* The Bottom Line...
***************************************************
Have you received any emails with a subject line of:
You’ve received a greeting card from a admirer! or...
You’ve received a greeting card from a class-mate!
You’ve received a greeting card from a colleague!
You’ve received a greeting card from a family member!
You’ve received a greeting card from a friend!
You’ve received a greeting card from a mate!
You’ve received a greeting card from a neighbor!
You’ve received a greeting card from a neighbour!
You’ve received a greeting card from a partner!
You’ve received a greeting card from a school-mate!
You’ve received a greeting card from a worshipper!
Spammers have launched a widespread email attack this month.
Warnings about this new threat have come from the FBI, the FTC
and Symantec (makers of Norton AntiVirus).
This attack doesn't try to get you to open an attachment, though.
Instead, it tries to get you to click a link to an alleged "greeting card".
If you click the link, your computer is the victim of a drive-by download
that infects your computer and turns it into a bot net member. A bot net
is essentially an army of infected PCs that can be given commands by
a central location. Commands can be sent to your PC to tell it to send
spam emails or to perform a Denial Of Service attack on an intended
victim.

* What You Should Do
***************************************************
1. If you are smart enough to simply delete suspicious emails, and you
you are smart enough to not open attachments, then your chances of
being infected are next to nothing. Unfortunately, in view
of the rapid spread of this "Storm" variant, many aren't so smart. It is
estimated that there are at least 1 million infected PCs that are part
of the "bot net" that this worm is creating.
2. If you must click a link in an email, make absolutely sure that your
PC has ALL available Windows Security Patches and that your
antivirus is completely up to date.
3. Always let Windows Update install the latest patches.
