VIRUS ALERT- It Takes Guts To Say Jesus!

Greetings from The VACM Team,

In this issue:
------------------------------------
- VIRUS ALERT- It Takes Guts To Say Jesus!

***************************************************
* The Bottom Line...
***************************************************
There is no virus by this name. There is, however, a widespread
hoax message circulating, which warns of alleged, dire
consequences.

***************************************************
* How To Recognize This Hoax Email...
***************************************************
This email arrives in your inbox, perhaps from someone you know.

The subject of the email is typically "Virus Warning!!!!!"

Although there are some variants of this hoax running arounc, the
body of the hoax email message reads something like this:

If you receive an email titled "It Takes Guts to Say 'Jesus'" DO
NOT open it. It will erase everything on your hard drive.
Forward this letter out to as many people as you can.  This is a
new, very malicious virus and not many people know about it.
 This information was announced yesterday morning from IBM;
please share it with everyone that might access the internet.
Once again, pass this along to EVERYONE in your address book so
 that this may be stopped.

One other version of this hoax appears as follows:

SUBJECT:  WARNING

BODY:
If you receive an email titled "It Takes Guts to Say 'Jesus'  DO
NOT OPEN IT.  It will erase everything on your hard drive.  This
information was announced yesterday morning from IBM; AOL states
that this is a very dangerous virus, much worse than "Melissa",
and that there is NO remedy for it at this time.

Some very sick individual has succeeded in using the re-format
function from Norton Utilities causing it to completely erase
all documents on the hard drive.   It has been designed to work
with Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer.  It
destroys MacIntosh and IBM compatible computers.  This is a new,
very malicious virus and not many people know about it.

Pass this warning along to EVERYONE in your address book and
please share it with all your online friends ASAP so that this
threat may be stopped. Please practice cautionary measures and
tell anyone that may have access to your computer.  Forward this
warning to everyone that might access the internet.

***************************************************
* What You Should Do...
***************************************************
Such a virus does not exist.  This email, like all other hoaxes,
is designed to scare people into emailing this hoax to everyone
they know.  Sending this hoax to everyone you know not only puts
unnecessary load on all the mail servers on the internet, but also
slows down everyone's web access.

That said, what you need to do is:

1. Perhaps read and chuckle about this absurd email.

2. Do not forward this hoax email to ANYONE!

3. Just delete this hoax email.

4. Consider getting a copy of
"Virus Secrets 2 - Complete System Hardening Guide"
so that you can make your system(s) immune to the latest
technoligically sophisticated email and web site viruses.
These days, antivirus software alone will no longer protect
you 100%. Check out "Virus Secrets 2..." at:

******** APPENDIX - Handy How-To Tips **********

  * How To Boot into Safe Mode

Shut the computer down so that the power is off.

Turn the computer on, wait 1 second and begin pressing the F8 key
on the keyboard, once every second repeatedly. Do this until
the Windows Startup Menu appears. If you get a keyboard
error, press F1 to resume and then continue pressing the
F8 key once every second, or your PC may tell you to press another key for BIOS setup.

Select Safe Mode from the Windows Startup Menu, then press
the Enter key on the keyboard.

Windows will then boot into Safe Mode.
NOTE: This may take longer than a normal boot.

At the end of the boot process a dialog box will appear
informing you that Windows is in Safe Mode. Click OK on this dialog box.

Windows is now in Safe Mode.

If you miss hitting the F8 at the right time, Windows will boot
normally and you will not see the "Safe Mode" message.  In this
case, start from the top of these instructions until you get the
boot menu screen where you can choose "Safe Mode".  This can be
a little tricky the first time you do it.
